Welcome to the February 2007 edition of

“Leadership:  It’s All About Trust.”

An on-line newsletter from Ellen Castro that addresses

Leadership and Life in today’s 24/7 world.

Great leaders know that the heart and soul of any successful business or organization is the people.  The people ARE the competitive advantage!  They are fully aware that it is the people who develop the leading edge technology.  It is the people who provide the customer service that builds loyalty and repeat business.  It is the people who give them a job and a future!

Great leaders acknowledge the contribution of each and every individual.  They understand the whole is only as exceptional as the individuals.  And each individual is critical to the delivery of the product and/or service and the execution of the long term growth strategy.

Great leaders who are truly motivating by their mere presence realize that it is their own passion and commitment to others that ignite their follower’s passion, excitement and engagement to excel.  They reap what they sow.  Through their heartfelt gestures and actions, they instill confidence and create organizations that are THRIVING regardless of the situation at hand.

Great leaders such as Mary Kay Ash and Herb Kelleher knew that “luv” made the impossible do-able.  And that the soft skills were actually the hard skills for developing and sustaining a thriving business.  It was “luv” that generated trust, commitment AND results.  They were known for treating each individual as though they were cherished...treasured.  They were known to take the time to look at people in the eye.  They were known for having conversations that gave them insight into the other person’s psyche.  They were known for remembering the small things.  They were known for saying “thank you” and spreading “luv” wherever they were.

Great leaders choose to model “luv” in every single moment, in every single way.

Perhaps today, Valentine’s Day, is a great day to spread a bit of “luv” and celebration by saying thanks from the bottom of our hearts to those we touch.

Questions for Reflection

Is my mere presence igniting the passion, commitment and confidence in those that I touch?  And if not, why not?

The choice is ALWAYS yours!
