March 2011 It’s All about TRUST

An on-line newsletter by Ellen Castro

Are you encountering disengagement or disenchantment in your workplace? Then emotional needs are probably not being met.

There are 3 universal needs of people once they have obtained shelter and food. The 3 needs are:

  • A sense of belonging.
  • Feeling appreciated and valued.
  • Feeling connected to something greater than themselves

How many of your communications currently express a sense of belonging, feeling valued and connectivity? Communications of this quality instill a sense of:

  • "I am wanted.
  • I am needed.
  • I matter!"

Imagine the teamwork, innovation and success that would result.

Perhaps it is time to roam the halls with a smile on your face, to make eye contact, to chat and to simply connect. If you have a global organization, send a happy email saying, “Thanks, because of you we have a chance for success.” Might sound corny, but how many of you have received too much positive feedback lately? Any positive feedback?

Want an emotionally engaged workforce? Be emotionally engaging. Nothing is as emotionally compelling and engaging as exhibiting a genuine desire to help others succeed.

“When I help others succeed, I succeed.” Ray Kroc, founder, McDonalds

A gentle remember, you are ALWAYS on stage and EVERYTHING counts. You have the power to engage hearts or create disenchantment. The choice is yours!

By the way, your customers are people, too.
