Welcome to the September 2006 edition of   “Leadership:  It’s All About Trust.”

An on-line newsletter from Ellen Castro that addresses

 leadership in today’s 24/7 world.

Today’s Leaders

Leadership is ALL about TRUST.  Trust results in higher morale, greater productivity, increased innovation and commitment leading to SUCCESS in all its many forms.

Whether in the US , Europe or Africa , mis-trust fosters lousy morale, reduced productivity, higher absenteeism and good employees fleeing to the competition.

Seven global destroyers of trust are …

Exhibiting a lack of integrity and character.

  • Taking credit while passing blame.

  • Having a “convenient” memory.

  • Displaying a condescending and/or arrogant attitude and demeanor.

  • Demonstrating an inability to follow through on commitments and promises.

  • Not showing common courtesy or decency

  • Undermining the confidence of followers.

You reap what you sow.  What are you reaping?  Fear and compliance, or TRUST and COMMITMENT?

Questions for Reflection

 What is de-motivating your followers?

 Is it you?

The choice is ALWAYS yours … choose wisely.

Feel free to share this with a colleague or friend.  Your comments and thoughts are always appreciated … I am always learning.  Until next time, choose wisely.
