Leadership and Life in Today’s 24/7 World

Whether in the UK, Spain or USA, people are being asked to do more, do better and be quicker with less.   The secret to success in these times, that does not cost money, is eliminating the behaviors and attitudes which like vampires of the past suck the vitality, commitment and creativity of an individual and thus the organization.  The three most common “monsters”, in my belief, that drain the life blood and create “the walking dead” are:

  • Negativity
  • “Can’t  Do” Mentality
  • Lack of Appreciation

How many of you feel your own enthusiasm drop to a dismal level when all you hear and feel is negative?  And think of the times when you wanted to do what was right, yet all you heard was what could not be done?  And are any of you feeling like a “zombie” because you have not heard a “thank you” or a “job well done” in spite of all your efforts?

There are of course other behaviors that drain and strain communications and relationships and thus impact the motivation and commitment of others.  They include and are not limited to any sort of bad mouthing of others, getting on the defensive and an excessive ego.

Today’s leaders have a positive “can do” attitude and mentality and appreciate the contributions of others thus creating an energizing, success oriented environment in every single moment, in every single way.

Question for Reflection

Are people energized or drained in your presence?  It really is that simple.

The choice is ALWAYS yours!
